Joe Battestelli, pitched the entire game for the bombers, only allowing two runs on 5 hits and one error, throwing 67 strikes. The Bombers had eight runs on 10 hits and one error, including two homeruns.

A lead off single by Kobchak to start things for the Rafters. Joe Battestelli then follows with striking out the next two batters and Dan Dispensa catches a fly to right field for the last out of the first inning.

During his first at bat with the Bombers, Eric Schultz of Huntington University had a hit to second and was quick enough to get on base, but got caught stealing.

In the top of the third Brett Kauten had an error which allowed someone to get on base, but redeemed himself with a caught ball for an out which he then threw to second for the assist, for a double play to end the inning. Kauten then started the Bombers off with a single to right field.

Andrew Lawrence hit a ball deep back to right field for his second home run in two games. Then Kauten keeps up his hitting and drives a ball between center and right field over the fence, for a home run to put the Bombers up 2-0.

Every time a Bomber hits a home run at C.O. Brown Stadium HBC will donate $200 for the Clear the Fence for Cancer promotion. So far, the Bombers have hit four home runs at home for a total of $800.

Josh Lyon hit for an RBI to send in Schultz, to put the Bombers up 3-0, and then Lawrence hits in Josh Rosecrans, that gave the Bombers an even bigger lead.  Parker Berberet hit a shot to the middle of center field for a single that scored two runs, but was picked off at first a few pitches later.

Rosecrans hit an RBI single that scored Schultz, to put the Bombers ahead 7-0, with two outs.

During the eighth inning with no outs, runners load the bases.  A Rafter hits in one run and then a sacrifice fly by Koback, to make the game 7-2, in favor of the Bombers.

The Bombers take game one of the three game series 8-2. Join the Bombers back at C.O. Brown Stadium Saturday night for Battle Creek Downtown Partnership, where you were able to pick up free tickets at participating Battle Creek downtown businesses. It is also bring your dog to the park night and before the game is an LYA Clinic. On Sunday we will be recognizing the area’s local health providers with Health and Fitness Night and Family Fun Sundays where kids can run the bases and meet the players after the game.
