DYERSVILLE, IOWA — More and more activity continues to come to the This is Iowa Ballpark at the Field of Dreams Movie Site and the newest tenant just announced more opportunities for area baseball and softball players during an open house that they hosted yesterday at the new facility. The Dreamers Training Center will officially open on Monday, November 2 providing indoor training opportunities for baseball and softball players throughout the “off-season” inside of the batting cages at the This is Iowa Ballpark.
Inspired by their slogan, “Train Where the Dream Lives”, team officials shared the exciting news with onlookers and provided tours of the training center itself which features two batting cages inside of the climate-controlled ballpark that will also feature multiple pieces of training equipment and aids to supplement instruction from a number of area coaches and instructors.
Dreamers director of baseball operations Hayden Goodell shared his excitement for the ballpark’s newest venture. “This is a very unique opportunity for baseball and softball players of all ages to come train in the same location that the likes of Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber and Byron Buxton just worked out in back in August,” exclaimed Goodell. “We’re excited to offer everything from memberships to one-on-one training sessions to featured camps and clinics all off-season to players looking to advance their game as they prepare for their future season of competition.”
Goodell, who has served as the general manager of an indoor training facility near La Crosse, Wisc. for the previous two years, will not only lead the operations of the DTC (Dreamers Training Center), but will also serve as one of the instructors. A former baseball player who competed at Kirkwood Community College, Goodell has also been coaching multiple levels of baseball teams for the past five years along with providing instruction in a training center setting. He’ll be joined by fellow local instructors Tony Trumm (former Division I baseball coach, Dyersville Beckman alum) and Maddie Harris (former collegiate softball player, Western Dubuque alum). Goodell shared that interested parties can also look forward to featured winter clinics and camps from guest clinicians, with more information to be announced on those at a later date.
