Another big day at bat for Makenna Alexander led the way to a third consecutive win for the Minot Honeybees. The 5-2 victory kicked off a new series against the Wausau Ignite.

It wasn’t the Honeybees who took the early lead though. Wausau announced their arrival with a two-run first inning. A wild pitch and RBI double put the Ignite in front.

Minot was quick to answer. Sydney Farmer got a base hit that scored Trinity Gregg and cut the deficit in half. Fast forward to the second inning, Makenna Alexander batted in the tying run on a double to left field. The next batter, Carly Cummings, brought Alexander across home plate to give the Bees a 3-2 lead.

The score would hold for a while as Ashleigh Heiderscheit and Riley Stiles each tossed consecutive scoreless innings. Heiderscheit was taken out of the game in the fifth inning and Jackie Albrecht came in as the closer. Albrecht would walk two over 2.1 innings but allowed no hits and no runs to earn the save.

Before the game could go final, Alexander had one more highlight in store. A sixth inning home run put the final touch on the Honeybee win.

Tuesday night will feature a doubleheader between Minot and Wausau. The action gets underway at 4:05 pm CT.

Makenna Alexander drove in three of the Honeybees five total runs, an effort worthy of SportClips MVP. Carly Cummings’ acrobatic catch in centerfield was named First Command Play of the Game. Eight Buffalo Wild Wings Walks were drawn by the Honeybees as part of a third straight Sky Dancer Casino Big Win.
