KALIX CROWNED DIG FOR CASH CHAMPION ON 701 COMMUNITY NIGHT

MINOT, N.D. — There was a great softball game that took place on the field Wednesday night, but the real show-stopper was the Dig For Cash promotion presented by Sky Dancer Casino. After setting down the shovel, Chris Haseleu of Kalix earned $2,972 for the non-profit he directs.

“Part of our mission is to connect, contribute and celebrate the Minot community, and 701 Community Night brought all three of those values to life,” said Hot Tots & Honeybees General Manager Monica Blake. “Seeing six incredible local organizations share their missions, compete together and ultimately leave Corbett Field with meaningful financial support was incredibly special. We are so grateful to Sky Dancer Casino, the Magic City Lions Club, Farmers Union Insurance and Northern Bottling for helping us create a night that was both entertaining and truly impactful.”

The competition began much earlier in the summer when six non-profits around Minot were selected to compete in a variety of on-field games for the chance at $5,000 by night’s end. Thanks to the help of the Magic City Lions Club, the lucky six organizations were selected, and invited to attend the game with 25 members of their organization.

On the day of the game, Wednesday, July 29, each of the organizations were present around the ballpark telling their stories and raising awareness for what they do to help the city of Minot and its residents. The executive directors of each non-profit came together to throw a special ceremonial first pitch to officially begin the night of competition.

Through multiple rounds of on-field games, the group of six was whittled down to a final two. An epic game of flip cup would decide the winning non-profit and send their director to the Dig For Cash game in the following inning. With another dominant performance, Kalix President and CEO Chris Haseleu made it through the gauntlet to the pool of cash.

With Kalix supporters joining him on the field, Haseleu dug up more than $2,000 to go towards continuing the organization’s great work in the community. Additionally, Kalix was the recipient of all net proceeds from the 701 Night jersey auction presented by Farmers Union Insurance. Final calculations from the jersey auction are still being finalized, however the event raised over $3,000 for Kalix. 

“We are thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the event and show dignity for the people we work alongside,” said Haseleu. “We are appreciative to be around and meet other non-profits in the community, as well.”

Based out of Minot, Kalix supports independence, dignity and purpose for all. They strive for a stronger community where people of all abilities are empowered through compassion, inclusion and impactful support.
