The Richmond Flying Mummies continue to add depth to the infield with the signing of Mason McCue, a sophomore infielder from Bourbonnais, Illinois.
McCue currently plays at the University of Evansville, where he appeared in 23 games with 15 starts during his freshman season, primarily at second base. He recorded his first collegiate hit with a double against the Central Arkansas Bears baseball on March 8 and followed that up with his first collegiate RBI against the SEMO Redhawks baseball just three days later.
As the season progressed, McCue continued to find his rhythm at the plate, highlighted by his first multi-hit performance — a 2-for-4 day against the Illinois State Redbirds baseball. He later drove in two runs in another 2-for-4 performance against the Belmont Bruins baseball.
Over the summer, McCue gained valuable experience in the Prospect League with the Danville Dans, appearing in 55 games and hitting .255 while continuing to develop his all-around game.
Before college, McCue was a four-year standout at Bishop McNamara High School, where he played for the Fighting Irish and was ranked the No. 119 player in Illinois in the 2024 class by Prep Baseball Illinois. He also competed on the travel circuit with the Bourbonnais Braves.
Off the field, McCue is majoring in civil engineering at Evansville. Athletic success runs in the family as well — his younger sister Tegan is committed to play softball at Northwestern University beginning in the 2025–26 season.
With his steady infield play and growing offensive production, McCue is set to bring versatility and energy to the Flying Mummies lineup this summer.
