Fans Celebrate Holiday Cheer with Royal Oak Leprechauns

Royal Oak, MI, December 18, 2023 – Memorial Park – #TheLuckyCorner – was the place to be this past Saturday night. Fans of the newest Northwoods League team gathered at 13 Mile and Coolidge for the third annual “Lighting of the Field.” Holiday lights were strung around the baseball diamond creating a memorable evening. Royal Oak Leprechaun General Manager Mark Sackett was on hand to greet fans.

“We enjoy bringing this special holiday event to the fan.” Sackett said. “Fans get to hang out on the field, enjoy the lights and talk baseball.”

The event drew about 50 fans for several hours. There was plenty of hot chocolate, cookies and Royal Oak Leprechaun Corn Hole games played. New team merchandise, an update on the improvements coming for the fans and ticket packages were available for fans.

The team will be competing in its inaugural season in the Northwoods League, a 26-team league that covers six-states and Canada. In existence since 1992, the league can be seen on ESPN+ and has sent over 340 alumni to Major League Baseball. The team’s schedule will be released in the coming week and will include 36-home games with Michigan rivalries with the Traverse City Pit Spitters, the Kalamazoo Growlers and the Battle Creek Bombers.
