WELCOME TO MEMORIAL PARK

Dedicated in 1939 and built to honor Michigan Armed Forces members who gave the ultimate sacrifice in their service, Memorial Park covers just over 24-acres providing endless opportunities for family fun.

Three baseball/softball diamonds are highlighted by #TheLuckyCorner Field, home of the Royal Oak Leprechauns Northwoods League team. With more than a half-million dollars of on-field improvements, the field was transformed from dirt to synthetic athletic turf with the outfield remaining grass. The city has also partnered to add a new asphalt surface surrounding each field and will have WIFI as well. Updated stands and press box are included in future plans.

The surrounding park area includes century-old Oak and other species of trees, rolling hills and play structures for children. Memorial Park also has a skate park, tennis courts, bathrooms, concessions stand during events and ample parking to make Memorial Field one of Royal Oak’s gem parks.

The park will now includes a three million dollar memorial. The first-phase of the project includes 1,200 Walk of Honor paver bricks, full-sized statue and flag poles representing each branch of service to honor the 620,000 Michigan residents who have served in the Armed Forces and the 15,458 Michigan soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during war and highlight the role the state’s people and companies played in the war effort.

TRANSFORMING MEMORIAL PARK

WE HAVE PUT A CALCULATED EFFORT INTO TURNING MEMORIAL PARK FROM A SANDLOT INTO A FIELD OF DREAMS.

It hasn’t been easy but we’ve done a ton of work to our ballpark which has turned this historical ballpark into a place where collegiate/minor league level ballplayers feel great playing at. From new fencing, dugouts, astroturf, scoreboards, seating, and bullpens we continue to work to overhaul the park. With many goals and work to still be done, we are looking to add more upgrades to the park over the next 2-5 years including new permanent seating, mesh backstop, video board, on-site hospitality suites, concession options, renovated restrooms, press box extensions and an outfield deck and seating.

WITH DONATIONS AND PARTNERSHIPS WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH THE ABILITY TO EXPEDITE MANY OF OUR BALLPARK IMPROVEMENTS. WE STILL HAVE A LONG WAYS TO GO. WE ARE WORKING TOWARDS A NEW BACKSTOP, LIGHTS, PRESS BOX AND HOSPITALITY SUITES.
