Royal Oak Leprechauns Open Applications for 2027 Internship Program
Following a Northwoods League championship season, the Leprechauns are offering students and aspiring sports professionals hands-on opportunities across baseball operations, marketing, sales, and more.
ROYAL OAK, Mich. — The Royal Oak Leprechauns have officially opened applications for their 2027 internship program, offering college students, recent graduates, and aspiring sports professionals an opportunity to gain practical experience in the business and operations of a collegiate summer baseball organization.
Coming off the franchise’s first Northwoods League championship in 2026, the Leprechauns are preparing for another season of baseball in Royal Oak and looking to build their team of interns across several departments.
The program is designed to provide meaningful professional experience in a fast-paced sports environment. With 36 home games each summer, interns have the opportunity to contribute to nearly every aspect of the organization, from planning and preparation to the execution of game-day operations and community events.
Real Experience, Real Responsibility
Unlike traditional internships where responsibilities may be limited to observation or administrative support, the Leprechauns program emphasizes active participation in the organization’s daily operations.
Working alongside team leadership and departmental staff, interns take on meaningful assignments, contribute to projects, and gain firsthand exposure to the decisions and responsibilities involved in running a baseball organization.
The program’s small-team environment also encourages collaboration across departments, allowing interns to develop a broader understanding of the sports industry while building practical skills in their areas of interest.
Professional development is another important component of the experience, with opportunities to learn from industry professionals, strengthen workplace skills, and build relationships within the sports community.
Former Leprechauns interns have gone on to work with organizations including the Detroit Tigers, Ilitch Sports + Entertainment, USA Hockey, Chicago Blackhawks, Toledo Mud Hens, and ESPN+, reflecting the variety of career paths available within the industry.
Opportunities Across the Organization
The 2027 internship program includes opportunities during both the winter semester and summer baseball season.
Winter-semester positions focus on areas such as sales, graphic design, social media, and marketing, providing experience in the preparation and business development activities that take place before the season begins.
Summer opportunities span baseball operations, broadcasting, marketing, photography, game-day operations, ticket sales and fan services, promotions, merchandise management, and event management.
Candidates interested in other areas of the organization are also encouraged to apply and indicate their professional interests.
Previous experience working in sports is not required for every position. The Leprechauns are seeking dependable, motivated individuals who demonstrate initiative, a willingness to learn, strong teamwork, and a commitment to contributing to the organization’s success.
