MOONDOGS BREAK IT OPEN IN THE 5TH AS THEY CLOBBER BORDER CATS TO SPLIT 2-GAME SET

 

The Mankato Moondogs scored 5 in the 5th and 4 in the 9th as they went on to clobber Thunder Bay 11-2 to split the 2-game series. Kenton Crews smacked a 2 RBI double to help lead the way for Mankato in the 5th. Ethan Valdez, Christopher Schaeffer, Ryan Kreidler picked up the other RBI for the Moondogs in the inning. Kreidler led the way for Mankato with 3 RBI on the night. Connor Centala suffered the loss for Thunder Bay as he went just 4 and a third giving up 8 hits and 6 earned runs. Brett Newberg picked up the win after 6 solid innings giving up just a single run and striking out 5. One of the lone bright spots for Thunder Bay came off the bat of Jean-Francois Garon as he clobbered his 3rd home run of the year. The Border Cats now embark on a 6-game road trip, which will take them through Waterloo, St. Cloud, and Duluth. The team returns home next Thursday to take on the Lacrosse Loggers. 1st pitch is set for 7:05.
