This season the NWL foundation is proud to award more than $55,000 worth of youth baseball and softball equipment. This equipment will help to power the passion between young athletes and sport. Each of these grants are worth an approximate retail value of $2,500. They will include the following, two sets of catcher’s gear, ten gloves, eight batting helmets, six bats and one bucket of practice balls.

Who is eligible to receive the grant?
The following criteria must be met in order to be eligible to receive the grant:

Canadian grant applicants must meet US and Canadian IRC Guidelines.
Organization qualifies as a 501(c)(3) organization, school or school-based program, or community-based organization as defined under US IRC section 501(c)(3);
Organization is not an individual, for-profit business, political, or religious organization;
Organization provides opportunities for kids ages 9-12 to play baseball or softball within a community that is served by a Northwoods League affiliate.

What does the grant include?
The grant is a standardized set of Rawlings equipment, sized for youth ages 9-12. This year, Thunder Bay was selected to award Softball equipment.

Softball Grant Includes
(2) Sets of catcher’s (helmet, chest protector, shin guards, mitt)
(8) Batting helmets
(10) Fielding gloves (8 RH, 2 LH)
(1) Bucket of practice softballs
(6) Bats (27 in. – 30 in.)
