Battle Creek, MI – Manager Caleb Lang continues to build his roster for his and the team’s inaugural season. The latest player to join the team is catcher/right-handed pitcher Aaron Dolney out of Eastern Michigan University. Dolney is a native of Plymouth, MI and attended Detroit Country Day. The COVID freshman (academic sophomore) stands at 6’4″ tall and weighs in at 220 lbs.
In his senior year of high school, Dolney batted .435 with six home runs, 31 RBIs and nine stolen bases en route to first-team all-state and Michigan Dream Team honors. He was also ranked as the No. 1 catcher in the state of Michigan by Perfect Game and Prep Baseball Report. Dolney started his collegiate career at the University of Nebraska but the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled his freshman season. Dolney then transferred back closer to home to play for the Eagles.
Through 15 games at EMU, Dolney has batted .313 with two home runs and 8 RBI. He has yet to make an appearance on the mound. Dolney is expected to be a staple behind the plate for the Battle Jacks this summer. He has yet to make an error behind the plate for the Eagles this season. Both his glove and bat should be major contributors for the Battle Jacks this summer.
