Battle Creek, MI–The Battle Jacks came into a two game series against the Fond Du Lac Doc Spiders on a two game win streak. It would’ve been three had the game against Kokomo not been postponed yesterday due to heavy rain. The Doc Spiders, on the other hand, were losers of three straight as they headed to Battle Creek. None of that would matter as the Doc Spiders offense exploded for 16 runs en route to a 16-5 win.
Fondy scored first and they scored often putting up six runs in the first three innings. In the 3rd it was two home runs that broke the game open. Parker Noland and Branden Comia both went yard for the first time this season. The scoring didn’t stop there as they added one more in the 4th and three more in the 7th. In the 7th the Battle Jacks recorded their first hit of the game with a Charlie Rhee swinging bunt. They put up three runs in the inning after three straight walks allowed Jace Matkin, Isaiah Gibbs, and James Canar to score. However, the Doc Spiders answered in the 8th with five more runs. Battle Creek added two more runs, one in both the 8th and 9th and finished the game with three hits.
It wasn’t a great game for the Battle Jacks and they’ll look to quickly put it behind them. They are scheduled for a Sunday Matinee and the second game against Fond Du Lac. There is rain expected all day tomorrow, but as of now the game is set for 1:35 PM first pitch.
