The Battle Jacks are leveling up. From the front office to the field, every hire this offseason has been about raising the standard; and the latest addition to the coaching staff is no exception.
We’re excited to welcome Tim Brown as our new pitching coach for the 2026 season. Brown brings nearly 20 years of coaching experience, including extensive work at the Division I level, where he builta reputation for developing pitchers, building trusted relationships with players, and creating competitive, high-character clubhouses.
“Tim’s experience in Division I baseball is exactly what our players need,” said Field Manager Chris Fletcher. “He’s been there, coached at the highest college levels, and knows how to create a trusted environment where pitchers can grow. For our summer kids, that balance of teaching and competition is invaluable.”
Brown most recently served as an assistant coach at Ohio University, helping Bobcat pitchers earn Academic All-MAC and All-District honors while performing on the mound in the always-tough Mid-American Conference. His career also includes coaching stops at Eastern Illinois, South Carolina Upstate, Lincoln Memorial, George Washington, Mount Saint Mary’s, Coppin State, and Siena College. Along the way, he mentored future MLB Draft pick Will Klein and guided multiple programs to winning seasons and postseason success.
That teaching-first approach makes Brown a natural fit for the system being developed by Director of Baseball Dave Walsh. “From day one, our goal has been to build the best coaching staff in the league,” Walsh said. “Adding Tim proves we’re on that path. With Chris leading the club and Tim overseeing pitching, we’re creating a staff that not only competes but also develops players in the right way.”
For owner Scott Miles, the hire reflects the broader direction of the franchise: “We’re keeping our heads down, working hard, and building something amazing here in Battle Creek. Bringing Tim on board is another step in raising the bar for our players and our fans. It’s about doing things the right way and creating something the community can be proud of.”
Brown’s arrival is another step forward in a new era of Battle Jacks baseball; one built on teaching, trust, and raising the bar across every aspect of the game.
