Caleb Lang: Field Manager

2022 will be Caleb’s inagural season as manager of the Battle Creek Battle Jacks. Caleb is currently the Hitting Coach at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. 2021 was Lang’s first season at Concordia, and with him on staff the team broke the program record for wins in a season while reaching the NAIA world series for the first time in team history. Offensively, the Bulldogs broke the single season records for home runs, runs scored, and hits, while four Bulldog hitters were named First Team All-Conference.

Prior to joining the Concordia coaching staff, Lang served as Assistant Baseball Coach at NCAA Division III Flagler College, in St. Augustine, FL. A native of Batavia, New York, Lang spent two years as a graduate assistant at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts where he was also the hitting coach. Additionally, Caleb has experience coaching in the Northwoods League with the Traverse City Pit Spitters in 2019 and was previously the Field Manager of the Niagara Power Baseball Team as part of the New York Collegiate Baseball League from 2017-2018.

Lang played college baseball at NCAA Division III Carin Univesity in Langehorne, PA. He earned numerous honors while being named a two-time NCAA D-III All American, the NYCBL Player of the Year, and a three time first team NCCAA All-American. He was also recognized with the Hank Burbridge Unlimited Potential Award.

In spreading his love for the game of baseball, Lang has spent time as a Miracle League volunteer, which entailed playing baseball with adults and children with physical and mental disabilities. Lang also live din the Dominican Republic for eight weeks, teaching baseball and providing meals to those in need. Caleb is the son of Kimberly and Michael Lang and has five siblings: Ciara, Hannah, Abraham, Elizabeht, and Levi. Lang  enjoys spending his time hunting in the woods, working out at the gym, and exploring new places while travelling with his wife, Rebekah.

Chris Clark: Assistant Coach

Chris is entering his first season as an assistant with the Battle Jacks. He currently is an assistant coach at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, MI. He joined the Davenport staff in Septmeber of 2021. Clark is a natvie of Caledonia, Michigan and he played colleiately at Nortwhood University for two years. Chris is very famliiar with the friendly confines of MCCU Field, having spent two years playing for the Bruins at Kellogg Community College here in Battle Creek.






Mark Hernandez:  Assistant Coach

2022 will be Mark’s inagural season as an assistant coach for the Battle Jacks. Hernandez is currently in his third season as the Pitching Coach, Strength Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Middle

Georgia State University.

In 2021, the Knights were selected as a 2 seed at the NAIA Opening Round, and finished with a 36-21 record. The pitching staff finished 13th in the country with 8.59 K/9 and overall struck out 487 batters. Two pitchers received 1st Team All-SSAC honors.

Hernandez is a native of Miami, FL and is the son of Yolanda and Heriberto Hernadez. Hernadez played Divison I baseball as a two way player, both pitching and playing first base.
