Full Steam Ahead!
The newly named La Crosse Steam makes a splash in La Crosse!
LA CROSSE, WI – The excitement was palpable at the 20th Winter BBQ last night as the La Crosse Community got to witness the unveiling of their newest sports team: the La Crosse Steam.
“Everyone is so excited for softball to come to La Crosse,” said Kara Griswold, General Manager of the La Crosse Steam. “The support from the community has been amazing, and we plan to bring some of the best talent the country has to offer to play at Copeland Park.”
Steamboats are intertwined in the history of La Crosse. Symbols of steamboats are still seen throughout La Crosse whether it is the directional signage downtown, banners on the lights on the Northside, a symbol in the city logo, or the Julia Belle Swain docked right near the field.
The Steam’s primary logo showcases the history of steamboats all throughout La Crosse, featuring a steamboat cruising through the Mississippi River. The blue streak in the S of the logo signifies the Mississippi River, and the diamond in the middle represents a softball diamond.
To keep up to date with the La Crosse Steam as we prepare to take the field on June 15th, visit our website or follow us on X, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook @laxsteam.
