Steam Adds First Talented Freshman from Oregon State
First Official Signee for Northwoods League Softball Ashley Wolfe Joins the Steam
LA CROSSE, WI – La Crosse Steam began their roster-building for the inaugural 2024 season today when the team announced the signing of infielder Ashley Wolfe.
The 5’4” Oregon State freshman is ranked 37th in ExtraInnings Softball’s 2023 class. Originally from Green Bay Preble, Wolfe had an impressive high school career. Being a 3-year varsity starter, Wolfe swiped 70 bases in high school competition, as well as hit .588 in 10th grade and .530 in her prep career over three seasons. A member of Team USA 18u, Wolfe is also a three-time first team All-American, All-District, and Gatorade Player of the Year finalist.
Ashley Wolfe and the rest of the Steam will open their 2024 campaign at Copeland Park & Events Center on June 15th when they take on Madison Softball.

Leveraging the 30-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) will be the first for-profit Women’s Summer Collegiate Softball League beginning play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024. The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play. Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.
