LA CROSSE, WI – The La Crosse Steam secured a 3-1 victory against the Minot Honeybees in front of an enthusiastic crowd of 673 fans at Copeland Park.
Steam’s starting pitcher, Mackenzie Willis (Belmont), delivered an impressive performance, pitching seven innings with only one run allowed on one hit while striking out seven batters.
On the opposing side, Honeybees’ starter Jackie Albrecht (North Dakota) pitched for 5.2 innings, conceding two runs on three hits and striking out ten.
The game saw its decisive moments in the bottom of the third inning when the Steam surged ahead with a 3-0 lead. Grace Frechette (St. Cloud State) scored on an error, Teagan Graul (Paris JC) hit a single to left field driving in another run, and Ashley Wolfe (Oregon State) reached base with an RBI walk.
The Honeybees responded quickly in the top of the fourth inning with a solo home run by Sydney Farmer (Tyler JC), adjusting the score to 3-1.
Ultimately, the Steam maintained their lead and secured the win, improving their record to 11-19. The Minot Honeybees, with this defeat, fall to 5-23.
The La Crosse Steam will be back in action on Friday as they face the Mankato Habaneros at ISG Field, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
