LA CROSSE, WI – In front of a crowd of 1,100 at Copeland Park, the La Crosse Steam fell to the Minot Honeybees in a narrow 1-0 defeat.
Steam starting pitcher Mackenzie Willis (Belmont) delivered a strong performance, going 7 innings while allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and striking out 9.
However, her efforts were overshadowed by Honeybees starter Jasmine Blizzard (Minot State), who pitched 5 scoreless innings, conceding only 5 hits.
The decisive moment came in the top of the 4th inning when Sydney Farmer (Tyler JC) hit a solo home run, providing the game’s only run.
Despite the Steam’s attempts to respond, they were unable to capitalize, resulting in the final 1-0 scoreline.
With this loss, the Steam’s record drops to 15-24, while the Honeybees improve to 10-30. The Steam will look to rebound when they travel to Madison on Tuesday to face the Night Mares, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
