Jan Protsman to Return as Associate Head Coach

Jan Protsman named as Associate Head Coach for the La Crosse Steam

LA CROSSE, WI – Jan Protsman will be returning as associate head coach for his second season with the Steam, team officials announced today.

Protsman served as one of Steam’s assistant coaches in their inaugural season. “I am honored to be coaching again for the La Crosse Steam,” Protsman stated, “the Steam is a first-class organization that puts the girls first and is so focused on the development of the player.”

Jan Protsman is going into his second year as an assistant coach with UW-La Crosse softball. He has been involved with many area high school and travel ball over the last 15 years while providing hitting instruction from the Wisconsin/Minnesota/Iowa area for 20 years. Protsman played baseball for the V-Hawks for two years before starting to serve as an assistant softball coach.

Leveraging the 30-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) will be the first for-profit Women’s Summer Collegiate Softball League beginning play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024.  The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play.  Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.
