Steam Adds Two California Natives to Roster

California Connection Joins for 2025

LA CROSSE, WI – The La Crosse Steam is finishing off the month of February in style as team officials have announced the signing of a pair players in Madi Case from the Greenville University and Skyler Dietz from Fort Lewis College.

Case, Greenville University Outfielder, will be joining the Steam following her senior season. The Apple Valley, CA native heads into her final season with the Panthers after being named the NCAA Division III’s “Toughest to Strike Out” in 2023 and 2024. She ended the 2024 season with a FPCT of .964, BPCT of .453, and a Slugging Percentage of .545.

Dietz, Fort Lewis College 1B/Outfielder, will make her way to La Crosse following her junior season with the Skyhawks. The Atwater, CA native played with the Minot Honeybees during their 2024 summer season. She finished 9th in the Northwoods League for hitting with a BPCT of .381, while also recording a FPCT of .962 in 2024.

Leveraging the 31-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) will be the first for-profit Women’s Summer Collegiate Softball League beginning play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024.  The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play.  Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.
