Madison Softball Names Laurèn Schiek as Assistant Coach
The Oshkosh native will assist Head Coach Raquel Savoy in the team’s inaugural season

Madison Softball is excited to announce that Laurèn Schiek has been named as the Assistant Coach for Madison Softball.

Schiek, an Oshkosh, Wisconsin native, played her college career at Santa Clara University and Abilene Christian University (ACU). At Santa Clara, Schiek pitched 96 innings across 43 appearances with 22 strikeouts. After transferring to ACU, Schiek posted 61 innings pitched across 31 appearances, including 6 starts, and 2 saves. Schiek was also the first NIL-sponsored athlete in ACU athletics history. Her role with Madison Softball will be her first coaching experience.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to help inspire the next generation of female athletes to work hard and dream big,” Schiek said. “I am grateful for this platform the Northwoods League is providing to showcase a stage for these talented athletes and competitors.”

Schiek will be reunited with Madison Softball Head Coach, Raquel Savoy, who was on the Santa Clara coaching staff during her time as a student-athlete.

“When I heard about this opportunity, I knew the perfect person to embark on the journey with. Laurèn’s passion for the game and passion for empowering women through sport is something that sets her apart from many. She is a fantastic ambassador of the game. And more importantly an ambassador of strong female athletes,” Savoy said.

“I’m super excited to have Laurèn on staff! Coach Raquel has spoken so highly of her on and off the field. I think she brings a great perspective to the game and will make a great impact on the young women in the Madison Softball program,” Madison Softball Marketing and Operations Manager, Savanna Rainey said.

The Madison Softball team will unveil its team name at a free event at the Orpheum Theater on Saturday, April 20th at 5:00 p.m. Fans can RSVP for the event here.
