The Official Mascot Of The Royal Oak Leprechauns

The Story of Paddy O’Dinger
Between 1830 and 1850, Irish settlers found their way to a beautiful stretch of land nestled in southeastern Jackson County and northwestern Lenawee County in Southeast Michigan. They brought with them their traditions, their stories—and their legends. The scenic hills of this region would come to be known as the Irish Hills.
Among the tales passed down through generations was one of a great Leprechaun who once danced across those very hills. The settlers believed he would return one day… though no one knew when.
Fast forward to 2015—165 years later. The thunderous roar of the Michigan International Speedway shook the land once more. The hills rolled, the winds shifted, and the long-slumbering Leprechaun began to stir. At the same time, the Northwoods League was seeking a new team and the Irish Hills were ready to answer the call.
And so, the great Leprechaun returned. His name? Paddy O’Dinger.
After five spirited seasons in the Irish Hills, Paddy and his team seeked greener pastures. A stronger call came from the east—the call of Royal Oak. It came from the heart of the city: Duggan’s, The Blarney Stone, the Irish Tavern, and The Twisted Shamrock. These iconic landmarks pulled the mighty Leprechaun from his pot of gold and into the spotlight at Memorial Park.
With his new home, Paddy now shares joy, excitement, and some shenanigans with all Leprechauns fans. Don’t believe us? Come meet him at any Leprechauns home game!
