On July 4, 2025, the first ever hot dog eating contest in Royal Oak Leprechauns’ history was held at the iconic Memorial Park.

The contestants had four minutes to eat 10 bun-less charred hotdogs. The winner being whoever finished first or who ate the most dogs in those four minutes. After a not-so-close competition, Rico Brown was crowned the inaugural champion, coming in at 9.5 hot dogs.

A favorite to win the whole thing, Big Mike, tied for second with stat guy Drew Gagliardi, and the oldest of the group Brian Jones all coming in with a total of 6 hot dogs eaten.

The techniques varied, the anticipation was high, and American spirit was in the air.  “I am a much” Brown says in response to how he feels about claiming the title

When asked his thoughts on the upset Big Mike said “I love wheeling glizz as much as the next guy, but in the offseason, we’re going to hone in on chew rates”.
