ROYAL OAK, Mich. – After pitching and defense were on full display in the opening series against Battle Creek, the offense for the Royal Oak Leprechauns was the main headline in their 9-5 win against the Kenosha Kingfish on Wednesday night.
Although the Leprechauns trailed 1-0 heading into the bottom of the second, the middle of the batting order got the scoring started early. Second baseman Tristan Crane drove in the first Royal Oak run of the season with a double. In the same inning, a double from Oliver Service and single from Aamir Mitchell also plated runs, giving the Leprechauns a 3-1 lead after two.

In the third, the offense showed no signs of slowing down, with the Leprechauns adding on three more ru
ns, two of which came on an extra-base hit from third baseman Nolan Alvord.
With the Kingfish offense scoring pairs of runs in both the fifth and seventh innings, the
Leprechauns held onto a slim 6-5 lead heading into the eighth. In the bottom of the inning, a leadoff triple from Mitchell would eventually lead to another run, and then a bases-loade
d two-run single from Cash Van Ameyde sealed the victory.
With one game complete between the Leprechauns and the Kingfish, the series will finish up with a quick turnaround for game two. First pitch for Thursday’s game at Memorial Park is set for 11:05 a.m. ET. Tickets can be purchased on the team’s website or at the gate.
