Nick Banks, a member of the 2014 Woodchucks, was named to the final roster of the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team on Monday morning.

Banks, who plays his college baseball at Texas A&M, appeared in nine games for the Woodchucks during the 2014 season. In those nine games, he tallied ten hits including one double and two home runs and driving in nine runners. Banks was considered by many as a 5-tool prospect displaying all the physical tools necessary for a successful baseball career.

Banks left the Woodchucks on June 19 to participate in try-outs for Team USA. In six games with Team USA, he ranked third on the team with a .359 batting average.

The Collegiate National Team will open with a four-game friendly series against Chinese Taipei beginning July 1. The two teams will play their four-game series in various stadiums throughout North Carolina.

The Wisconsin Woodchucks are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwood’s League. Playing its 21st season of summer collegiate baseball, the Northwood’s League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 115 Northwood’s League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (DET) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (WAS), Curtis Granderson (NYM), Allen Craig (STL) and Ben Zobrist (TB).
