Two More Players Added to the Woodchucks Roster
Wausau, WIS- The Woodchucks announce the addition of two new players to the 2015 roster. Ryan Day, a right-handed pitcher from Duke and Benito Santiago, a catcher from the University of Tennessee.
Day is a 5’ 11 freshman from Phelan, CA. Day has appeared in 7 games for Duke, throwing 4 strike-outs. During his high-school career Day ranked in the top 230 prospects nationally and top 40 players at his position by Perfect Game. He tabbed Team MVP in 2014 and earned Southern California All Area Accolades as a senior.
Santiago, a 5’11 freshman from Pembroke Pines, FL has started 8 games for Tennessee. Santiago has a batting average of .167, 2 stolen bases and a perfect fielding percentage of 1.0, recording 57 putouts behind the plate. Benito was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 38th round of the June 2014 Major League Baseball Rule IV Draft. As a senior in high school he led his team with a .435 average, 37 RBI and 26 stolen bases.
The WISCONSIN WOODCHUCKS Home Opener is Friday, May 29th in the newly renovated Athletic Park with Post Game Fireworks presented by Ministry Health Care. Single game ticket will go on sale in April for the 2015 season.
