Woodchucks Fall to Rafters 13-4 in Season Opener

Wausau, WIS- The Wisconsin Woodchucks fell behind early against Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in their season opener and were unable to comeback, falling 13-4 in seven innings.

The Rafters got on the board first, scoring two runs in the second inning and four runs in the third. Kyle Devin had a two-RBI double in the third and would come around to score later in the inning.

The Woodchucks bounced back in the fifth though. Adam Hall walked the bases loaded, and the men he walked – LJ Hatch, Daytona Bryden and Nick Gotta – would all cross home plate that inning. Hatch finished the day 1-for-2 with a single, base on balls and run scored.

Wisconsin scored another run in the seventh after Owen Taylor hit a double into the right field corner, which plated Cody Hanke, but Wisconsin Rapids held on to win 13-4.

The second game of the season-opening doubleheader with Wisconsin Rapids will begin around 8 p.m.
