Wausau, WIS- The Wisconsin Woodchucks scored three runs in both the second and seventh innings Friday on the way to a 7-4 victory over the Green Bay Bullfrogs at Joannes Stadium.

The Bullfrogs drew first blood at home, scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning. Matthew De la Rosa was hit by a pitch and after advancing to second base on a sacrifice bunt, Paul Jacobson sent De la Rosa home with an RBI single.

Wisconsin came right back in the top of the second with three runs. Ty Black – who was making his first start and appearance for the Chucks – reached on an error, and Connor Heady followed with a single. LJ Hatch and Al Molina then hit back-to-back RBI singles, and Hatch scored on a throwing error to put the Chucks ahead 3-1.

Green Bay combined for three runs in the third and fourth, momentarily grabbing a 4-3 lead, but the Chucks tied it up with one run in the fifth. Max Ponzurick doubled and came around to score on a wild pitch in that frame.

The Chucks vaulted to the 7-4 lead in the seventh.  To kick off the inning, Albee Weiss reached on an error, Ponzurick doubled again and Owen Taylor singled. After a wild pitch brought Taylor home, all three of them had scored and Wisconsin was up 7-4.

That lead would hold as the Woodchuck bullpen put in seven good innings of work Friday. Connor Kelly, who pitched two innings of scoreless ball, would be the winning pitcher, and Robert Zeigler, who shut down Green Bay in the ninth, got the save.

Wisconsin moves to 6-9 on the season with the victory, and their three-day road trip continues with a pair of games in Kenosha, the first of which kicks off tomorrow at 6:05 p.m.
