Wausau, WIS- Jared Skolnicki produced a quality start for the Wisconsin Woodchucks Tuesday, and the Chucks pulled out a 2-1 win over the Green Bay Bullfrogs at Joannes Stadium to snap their four-game losing streak.

Skolnicki got his third start this year for the Woodchucks and allowed just five hits and one run in six innings on the mound. He struck out two and walked one while grabbing his third victory on the season.

After scoring one run in the fourth, the Chucks were first on the scoreboard in Green Bay. Yusuke Akitoshi reached on an error, LJ Hatch moved him around with a single and Ryan Day brought Akitoshi home on a fielder’s choice.

The Chucks doubled their lead in the fifth when Jared Oliva walked and stole second base before Connor Heady plated him with an RBI single.

Green Bay scored one run in the fifth as well, coming on back-to-back doubles from Desi Ammons and Matthew De La Rosa, to cut the lead to 2-1.

The Chucks certainly adept defensively Tuesday. They committed one error, but Wisconsin twice tagged out a Green Bay baserunner in a rundown between third and home.

Robert Zeigler came in for the Chucks in the ninth, and he allowed the first two runners to reach base. However, Zeigler came back and struck out the final two hitters of the ballgame to snag his second save of the season.

The Woodchucks return to action tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. at home against the Lakeshore Chinooks, which is the first contest in a four-game homestand for the Chucks.
