Madison, WIS- The Wisconsin Woodchucks were defeated 14-2 by the Madison Mallards – who scored three or more runs in four different innings – at Warner Park Sunday afternoon.

Madison put together a pair of three-run innings in the third and fourth. The Mallards had four hits in each of the two frames. Chris Tschida then hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to make it 7-0.

The Mallards tacked on four more runs in the sixth inning off four hits, highlighted by a three-run homer off the bat of Collin Theroux.

Wisconsin cracked the scoreboard in the seventh inning. Ryan Day, Keenan Eaton and Ty Black started the inning with three consecutive singles. Black’s single scored Day, and a fielder’s choice from Taylor Kohlwey later in the frame brought Eaton home to cut the deficit to 11-2.

Madison added three more runs off Ryan Day in the eighth inning to secure the 14-2 victory. Simon Mathews – who started and pitched four innings for the Chucks – got the loss, and Nate Hoffman received the victory.
