Mequon, WIS – Dylan Dwyer pitched eight and two thirds of innings of shutout ball, and the Wisconsin Woodchucks won the first game of the second half of the season by a score of 3-0 against the Lakeshore Chinooks Wednesday night at Kapco Park.

The start was Dwyer’s fourth of the season, and he gave up just six hits and two walks in the near complete game. Dwyer relied heavily on his defense as he struck out just one en route to the win. Robert Zeigler came in to  record the final out and earn the save.

The Woodchucks scored in the first and third innings of the ballgame. Max Ponzurick came home in the opening frame off an RBI single ripped to center field by Taylor Kohlwey. In the third, Ryan Day led off with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly from Ponzurick.

Wisconsin added their final run in the sixth. Kohlwey bunted for a single to start the frame and advanced all the way to third on a throwing error. Albee Weiss then plated him with a base knock.

The Woodchucks and Chinooks will play again tomorrow night in Mequon with first pitch at 6:35 p.m.
