Thunder Bay, Canada – The Wisconsin Woodchucks split their series with the Thunder Bay Border Cats after losing 4-2 at Port Arthur Stadium Friday night.

Jared Oliva led off the ballgame with a double. He moved over to third on a Ty Black fielder’s choice and then scored on a groundout from Yusuke Akitoshi.

Thunder Bay tied the contest in the fourth inning as Tyler Green scored Penn Murfee with a single to right center field. The Border Cats added two more runs in the sixth – one of which was unearned – to take a 3-1 lead.

The Woodchucks chopped the lead in half in the seventh. Albee Weiss walked and Connor Heady doubled to put runners at second and third for Mason Fishback. Weiss was tagged out at home trying to score on a wild pitch, but Fishback then hit a double to score Heady.

The Border Cats answered with a run of their own in the seventh, extending their edge to 4-2. The Chucks went down quietly in the eighth and ninth to end the ballgame.

Wisconsin continues their four-game road trip against the Duluth Huskies with games on Saturday and Sunday before returning to Wausau for a pair of home contests against the Kenosha Kingfish on Tuesday and Wednesday.
