Duluth, MN – The Wisconsin Woodchucks didn’t give up any runs for five innings Saturday, but they faltered in the final frames against the Duluth Huskies and lost 7-3 at Wade Stadium.
The Woodchucks took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. Ty Black and Albee Weiss both doubled in the frame, the latter of which scored Black.
Robert Zeigler and Kaleb Roper kept the Huskies off the board until the sixth. Duluth got four runs in that inning on five hits and one error. They added two more runs in the seventh and one in the eighth to take a 7-1 lead to the ninth.
Wisconsin wasn’t done yet. LJ Hatch singled with one out – his second base knock of the ballgame – and Ramsey Romano followed with a two-run blast to left center field, his second home run of the season. However, the last two Chucks’ hitters were retired to conclude the ballgame.
The Woodchucks and Huskies will play the finale of the Chucks’ four-game road trip tomorrow at Wade Stadium at 5:05 p.m.
