Wausau, WIS – The Lakeshore Chinooks hit three home runs to beat the Wisconsin Woodchucks 8-4 at Athletic Park Thursday.

Both teams scored one run in the first inning. Leading off for the Chucks, Ty Black doubled and scored on a single from Yusuke Akitoshi to get Wisconsin on the board.

The Woodchucks and Chinooks both got two-run homers in the third inning too. Jack Benninghoff hit the home run for Lakeshore, while Albee Weiss crushed his 15th homer of the year for Wisconsin.

The Woodchucks added one more run in the third to go up 4-3. Jared Oliva singled, stole second base and scored on a single from Alex Cordova.

Lakeshore re-gained the lead in the fourth. The Chinooks got two runs on one hit, one walk and one error in the frame to take a 5-4 lead.

The Chinooks used the long ball to guarantee victory. Doug Kraeger hit a solo shot in the seventh inning, one of two runs for Lakeshore in the frame, and Greg Deichmann crushed a home run to right field to put the Chinooks ahead 8-4 in the ninth.

Anthony Badalucco got his first for the Woodchucks and took the loss after four innings on the mound. Kyle Dohy got a long relief appearance of three innings, which included eight strikeouts.

The Woodchucks and Chinooks play again tomorrow night at Athletic Park at 7:05 p.m.
