Dipoto's 12 strikeouts lead 'Chucks

 

Wausau, WIS – The Wisconsin Woodchucks (17-25, 4-3 Second Half) won the first of a two-game set over Battle Creek Bombers (22-21, 4-3 Second Half), 4-2, at Athletic Park in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Jonah Dipoto (UC-San Diego) stole the show as the Woodchucks' starting pitcher, striking out 12 while allowing only one run on one hit in six innings. He picked up his second win of the year.

Steele Walker (Oklahoma), Cole Daily (Notre Dame), Steve Passatempo (UMass Lowell) and Stevie Mangrum (Virginia Tech) — the first four hitters in the Woodchucks' lineup — paced the 'Chucks.

The four combined to go 8-for-14 at the plate, scoring all four runs and driving in two. George Janca (Texas A&M), the fifth hitter in the lineup, drove in the remaining two runs.
