The 2017 Major League Baseball postseason begins on Tuesday, October 3 with three former Wisconsin Woodchucks players making an appearance.

The 2016 World Series Champion Chicago Cubs clinched the National League Central Division for the second year in a row. Reigning World Series MVP Ben Zobrist (Wisconsin ’03) will make his seventh postseason appearance.  He batted .232 this season with 12 home runs and 50 RBI.

The Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks will play for a Wild Card spot in the National League Division. 2017 All-Star Pitcher Pat Neshek (Wisconsin ’00) makes his fifth postseason appearance and first with the Rockies.  He had a 1.59 ERA with 69 strikeouts in 62.1 innings pitched this season.

The Diamondbacks utility player Daniel Descalso (Wisconsin ‘06) will make his fifth postseason appearance – his first with the Diamondbacks. He hit .233 this season with ten home runs and 51 RBI.
