We are only 64 days away from the Wisconsin Woodchucks home opener! College baseball seasons are already in full swing getting us excited for this summer at Athletic Park! Here is a look at how some of our 2018 Woodchucks are doing this spring.

Aaron Brooks has made two appearances so far for the Oklahoma Sooners and holds a 2.45 ERA in 3.2 innings pitched. Mason Cole has pitched four innings for Texas A&M with three strikeouts and a 2.25 ERA. Florida International University’s Everett Hurst is doing well on the mound, posting a 3.21 ERA through 14 innings pitched with 15 strikeouts and one save.

The 2018 hitters for the ‘Chucks are excelling at the plate with Brandt Broussard of LSU hitting .363 with three doubles, one triple, 16 RBI, a .425 slugging percentage, and a .411 on-base percentage. Florida State’s Cooper Swanson has a .333 batting average with a .444 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage. Juan Teixeira is off to a hot start with three stolen bases, a .362 batting average, 14 RBI, two doubles, two triples, and three home runs for Florida International University. Zach DeLoach of Texas A&M is third in all of college baseball with five triples. He also has six doubles, two home runs, 15 RBI, and a .311 batting average. DeLoach was named the SEC Freshman of the Week for two weeks in a row at the start of the season, the first ever freshman to do so. He was also the first SEC player to hit for the cycle since 2016 on February 20th against Stephen F. Austin State University.
