Wausau, WIS – The Wisconsin Woodchucks are excited to announce that local outfielder Payton Nelson will be joining the 2018 roster.
OF – Payton Nelson| 5’9” | R/L | Freshman | UW-Stevens Point
Nelson is originally from Wausau, WI and is currently playing in his first baseball season at UW – Stevens Point. The freshman is batting .282 with 24 RBI, nine doubles, two triples, and one home run. Nelson went to Wausau West High School where he was named to the first-team All-Wisconsin Valley Conference sophomore through senior year. He was named the Wisconsin Valley Conference player of the year his senior year in addition to First-team all-district, first-team all-state, district player of the year and WIS Sports Top Outfield in the state senior year. He also helped Wausau West to the Wisconsin Valley Conference championship in 2017.
