Wausau, WIS – The Wisconsin Woodchucks played game number two against the Kalamazoo Growlers tonight. They played a close game, with a tie score of 2-2 into the bottom of the 9th inning, but lost on a double by Growlers first baseman Niko Kavadas with a final score of 3-2.
Starting pitcher Brett Wicklund did well on the bump, going six innings with six strikeouts. Relief pitcher Drew Holweger followed with a scoreless inning on the mound. Jordan Walden pitched a scoreless eighth inning before letting up the double in the ninth.
Tommy Duddleston hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning, driving in a run from Mason Doolittle. Derek Schwimmer drove in the second run of the game for the ‘Chucks after hitting a single, leading to an error by the Growlers first baseman.
The Wisconsin Woodchucks will be back at home at Athletic Park on Saturday June 16th as they host the Rockford Rivets. First pitch is at 6:35 PM.
