Wausau, WIS – The Woodchucks came into tonight’s game in Kenosha looking for their third win as they opened up a two game series with the Kenosha Kingfish. The game was a close slugfest early on but both bats quieted down and the Kingfish held on for the 6-4 win.

 

After falling behind early 1-0 in the bottom of the 1st inning, the Chucks answered with a huge four run top of the 2nd inning with an RBI groundout from catcher Isaac Quinones, a two run RBI single from shortstop Nick Loftin and an RBI single from Zach DeLoach to make the score 4-1.

 

The Kingfish struck back for one run in the bottom of the 2nd inning and four runs in the bottom of the 3rd to take a 6-4 lead after three innings.

 

The Chucks bullpen was struck into action early and the combination of Everett Hurst and Branson Hall going five scoreless innings.

 

Both teams were quiet in the middle and later innings as neither team scored a run after the 3rd.

 

Top Performers

Woodchucks shortstop Nick Loftin had a nice night at the plate with a two run RBI single in the top of the 2nd inning, He also reached base twice with a walk.

 

Chucks centerfielder Zach DeLoach had a great night at the plate going 3-4 with and RBI single and a walk.

 

Woodchucks reliever Branson Hall was tremendous keeping the game in reach going four innings allowing no hits and striking out three.

 

Next Up

The Wisconsin Woodchucks will be back home at Athletic Park on Wednesday June 27th as they host the Battle Creek Bombers for a doubleheader. The first game game is at 12: 05 PM.
