Wausau, WIS – The Woodchucks came into this afternoon’s game at Athletic Park opening a day night doubleheader with the Battle Creek Bombers. The Chucks fell behind early and were not able to get the bats going against Bombers starter Pablo Arevalo. After scoring a run in the bottom of the 5thinning, the Chucks bats went quiet and fell 6-1.

 

After the Bombers took a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the 6thinning, the Chucks answered back with an RBI groundout from Nick Loftin to make the score 5-1

 

The Bombers answered back for a run in the top of the 9thinning and held on for the 6-1 victory.

 

Chucks starter Greg Dunham was very solid in his debut going four innings allowing no hits and striking out five.

 

The Woodchucks also got great relief help from Austin Elliot who went 2 2/3rdinnings pitched allowing no runs and striking out three.

 

 

 

 

Top Performers

 

Woodchucks third basemen Cooper Swanson had a very nice night at the plate going 2-2 with a a single, double and walked to reach base safely three times.

 

Chucks shortstop Nick Loftin gave the team their first run of the game with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the 6th.

 

Woodchucks starter Greg Dunham had a great debut allowing no runs through four innings and striking out five Bombers batters
