Wausau, WIS – The Woodchucks came into this evening game at Athletic Park trying to split the day-night doubleheader with the Battle Creek Bombers. The game was back and forth all night long but with the Woodchucks up 3-2 in the 8thinning,  the Bombers got a huge two run inning to take the lead 4-3 and they held on for the victory.

 

The Chucks opened the scoring in the bottom of the second off back to back RBI singles from second basemen Michael Fernandez and third basemen Cooper Swanson to take a 2-0 lead.

 

After the Bombers answered back with two runs in the top of the 5thto tie things at 2-2, The Chucks answered in the bottom of the 6thwith a big RBI double from first basemen TJ Raguse to take a 3-2 lead

 

Chucks starter Matt Walker had a great night on the mound going five innings allowing only two runs and striking out eight.

 

Chucks reliever Frank Frate came in to pitch a great two innings of scoreless relief to game the game close.

 

The Bombers had a huge top of the 8thinning scoring two runs and holding on for the tight victory 4-3.

Woodchucks third basemen Cooper Swanson had another nice night at the plate going 2-3 with an RBI single and a walk.

 

Chucks right fielder Reese Alexiades continued to swing the bat well going 2-4 with a double and single.

 

Woodchucks right fielder TJ Raguse had a big night going 2-4 with a huge RBI double in the 6thinning to give the Chucks the lead

 

Woodchucks second basemen Michael Fernandez delivered an RBI single in the 2ndinning to fuel the offense
