Wausau, WIS – The Woodchucks came into tonight’s game at Athletic Park looking to get their second straight win against the Lakeshore Chinooks.  After the Chinooks took an early 3-0 lead, a rain delay paused the action for a 1 hour and 41 minutes but the Chucks came back to have an offensive explosion and held on for a 10-5 victory.

 

The Chinooks were first to score, but the Chucks bats answered back in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a solo shot from Jaren Shelby and a two run RBI double from Nick Loftin. This tied the game at 3-3.

 

In the bottom of the 4th inning,  Zach DeLoach gave the team a 4-3 lead with an RBI single. The offensive kept it coming with an RBI double from Reese Alexiades and an RBI groundout from Javier Valdes. This brought the lead to 6-3.

 

The Chinooks answered for a run in the top of the 5th, but the Woodchucks offensive kept on swinging in the bottom of the 6th with an RBI double from Reese Alexiades and an RBI single from Nick Loftin.

 

After the Chinooks added a run in the top of the 7th, the Chucks added on some insurance in the bottom of the 8th with another RBI double from Reese Alexiades and a sac fly from Javier Valdes. The Woodchucks pulled off the win with a final score of 10-5.

 

Top Performers

 

Woodchucks right fielder Reese Alexiades had an incredible night at the plate going 3-5 with three consecutive RBI doubles.

 

Chucks leftfielder Jaren Shelby had a productive night in the leadoff spot, going 2-4 with a solo home run and a double. He also scored three times.

 

Chucks centerfielder Zach DeLoach went 2-4 with three runs scored and second baseman Javier Valdes went 1-4 with two RBI’s

 

Chucks reliever Austin Elliot was sensational in relief going 4 2/3 innings pitched with five strikeouts and only two runs.
