Wausau, WI – The Woodchucks came into this evening’s game in Green Bay looking to start their road trip with a win. The Chucks struck first and did not look back, holding on for the 7-2 victory.

Designated hitter Jaren Shelby got things going in the top of the 1st, coming home to score on a wild pitch.

The Woodchucks offensive came alive in the top of the 5thi nning as a RBI groundout from Zach DeLoach and a two run homer from Javier Valdes gave the Chucks a 4-0 lead.

The Bullfrogs added two in the bottom of the 5th to cut into the 4-2 lead, but the Chucks came right back to score two in the top of the 6th.

Javier Valdes added to his big night with an RBI single in the top of the 9th inning to make the score 7-2.

Chucks closer Lenny Gwizdala came in to shut the door down and give the Chucks their third win in four games.

Top Performers 

Woodchucks centerfielder Jaren Shelby had a great night at the plate going 2-3 with a walk, stolen base and a run scored.

Chucks right fielder Zach DeLoach continued to stay hot at the plate with a three RBI night, going 1-5 with an RBI groundout and a two-run RBI single.

Chucks third baseman Javier Valdes was a big part of the offense going 2-4 with a two-run home run, and RBI single, and a walk.

 Chucks reliever Frank Frate continued his dominance from the bullpen, going three scoreless innings and holding the Chucks lead.

Chucks starter Zach De La Garza pitched very well in his first start of the season. He pitched four innings, struck out two and did not allow a run.
