Wausau, WI – The Woodchucks came into this evening’s game in Green Bay looking for the two-game sweep against the Bullfrogs. The game was back and forth, but the Chucks held on for an 8-5 win.

The Chucks struck first, once again scoring two runs in the top of the 1st inning. The runs came from an RBI double by Zach DeLoach and a sac fly RBI from Javier Valdes.

The Bullfrogs scored a run in the bottom of the 1st inning but the Chucks offense answered right back scoring with a two-run RBI single from Zach DeLoach and an RBI triple from Reese Alexiades. This brought the Chucks lead up to 5-1.

The Bullfrogs cut into the deficit with a three run bottom of the 5th inning but the Chucks came right back to score two in the top of the 7th with a single from catcher Isaac Quinones

After the Bullfrogs added a run in the bottom 7th, the Chucks also added a run off a sac fly RBI from shortstop Nick Loftin. The Chucks then led 8-5 and hung on for the win.

 

Top Performers 

Chucks starter Greg Dunham pitched very well in his second start of the season going five innings, allowing only two earned runs and striking out five.

Woodchucks center-fielder Zach DeLoach had a big night at the plate going 2-5 with two doubles to cap off a three RBI night.

 Chucks reliever Alex Stodola was simply outstanding out of the bullpen, going three innings with just one run and no hits. He also struck out out six batters.

Chucks closer Lenny Gwizdala came in to solidify the win with a 1-2-3 bottom of the 9th pitching performance. This secured his sixth save of the season.
