Wausau, WIS – The Woodchucks came into tonight’s game at Athletic Park opening up a two game series with Green Bay Bullfrogs. The Chucks were looking for their third straight win and seventh in the last nine games.

 

The Woodchucks struck first in the bottom of the 2nd inning with an RBI double to right from first basemen Alex Toral. Woodchucks starter Branson Hall gave an incredible effort on the mound tossing 7 1/3 innings pitched. Hall gave up just four hits, allowing only one run and striking out four.

 

After the Bullfrogs tied things up in top of the 8th, the Chucks answered back with a huge five run bottom of the 8th. It started with Brandt Broussard scoring off a wild pitch, an RBI single from shortstop Nick Loftin and a big three run homer from first basemen Alex Toral to make it 6-1 Chucks.

 

Chucks reliever Joey Hennessey shut the door down out of the bullpen going two scoreless innings and striking out three.

Woodchucks first basemen Alex Toral had quite the night going 2-4 with four RBI’s, including a three run homer.

 

Chucks third basemen Javier Valdes went 2-4 with a run scored.

 

Chucks shortstop Nick Loftin delivered two hits on the night including an RBI single.
