Wausau, WIS – The Wisconsin Woodchucks played an early game in the first of two against the Battle Creek Bombers today. The game started out slow with the first run coming in in the fourth inning by Zach DeLoach. However, the Bombers responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth making the score 1-3. Going into the sixth inning, Valdes hit a double on a 0-0 pitch. Alex Toral followed that with a home run in the sixth, tying the game 3-3. The ‘Chucks could not bring in the lead, however, dropping the score in the seventh to allow the Bombers the win, 5-3.

 

Starting pitcher Branson Hall did well on the mound, going six innings with six strikeouts, allowing just three runs early in the game. Relief pitcher DJ Moreland came in for the two final innings and got one strikeouts, but he gave up two runs to come in in the seventh inning, letting the Bombers take the 5-3 win.

 

The Woodchucks will get a second chance at the Battle Creek Bombers today at 7:05 pm EST.

Javier Valdes hit a double in the sixth inning with Reese Alexiades hitting a RBI to bring in Valdes. Alex Toral followed Valdes with his game-tying home run in the sixth inning.
