Everett Hurst and Mason Cole held the Green Bay Bullfrogs without a hit through seven innings and Dom DeRenzo hit his third homer in two games as the Wisconsin Woodchucks defeated the Green Bay Bullfrogs 5-1 tonight at Athletic Park. The Woodchucks won the season series over the Bullfrogs 7-1.
The Chucks opened the scoring in the fourth. DeRenzo and Mike Ferri each walked with the bases loaded, scoring both Reese Alexiades and Zach DeLoach. Payton Nelson’s sacrifice fly scored Nick Loftin to give the Chucks a 3-0 lead after four.
Loftin led off the sixth with a double and DeRenzo followed by sending a 3-2 pitch over the left-center field fall for his sixth homer of the season and a 5-0 Chucks lead.
The Bullfrogs broke up the no-hitter with a leadoff single in the eighth. After a double play, the Bullfrogs got on the board with a home run.
Top Performers
Hurst got the win on the mound, throwing five hitless innings and striking out two. Cole struck out four and did not allow a hit in two innings.
Loftin had two of the Chucks’ four hits and scored two runs. DeRenzo had three RBIs to bring his two-game total to nine.
