Wes Obermueller
Wes Obermueller was a talented pitcher who got his start with the Woodchucks during the summers of 1996 and 1998.
In 1999, Obermueller became the first Chucks alumni and the 9th player in NWL history to be drafted. He was drafted in the 2nd round to the Kansas City Royals. Wes would spend the next three years playing in the minor leagues. He made his Major League debut with the Royals in 2002, starting two games for the team.
After his time with the Royals, Obermueller signed with the Milwaukee Brewers and played for the team from 2003 to 2005. During his time with the Brewers, he won nine games and pitched in 66 games, striking out 96 batters.
Obermueller then played professional baseball in Japan in 2006 before returning to the United States to play for the Florida Marlins in 2007. He went 2-3 with 35 strikeouts during his brief stint with the Marlins.
In 2008, Obermueller played in Korea before retiring from professional baseball. Despite his success in the Major Leagues and overseas, Obermueller remains a beloved figure in the history of the Wausau Woodchucks, where he began his journey to the top.
