College baseball season is well underway and only continues to heat up as conference play has started for most teams in the country. In honor of this, let’s take a look at how some of the players who’ll be wearing the blue and green this summer are doing.

Jacob Schroeder – Illinois

Schroeder and the Fighting Illini (11-9) are coming off their first Big Ten series where they went 1-2 against Nebraska. Currently, in his redshirt junior season, Schroeder has played in 12 games, is batting .317 with 13 hits (five of which are home runs), and has 12 RBIs. He also currently has the highest OPS on the team at 1.139 and is the only player over 1.00.

Christian Orr – Columbia International

It hasn’t exactly been an ideal start for Orr and the Rams as they sit at 8-20 overall, but Orr himself has been solid on the mound. The senior pitcher has started eight games and currently has an ERA of 5.57 along with 17 strikeouts.

Christian Mitchelle – Central Michigan

Coming off back-to-back conference series wins, Mitchelle and the Chippewas (13-9) are trying to make their case as one of the better teams in the Mid-American Conference. Mitchelle has played in all but one game so far and has been having a very strong freshman season batting .253 with 19 hits and 11 RBIs.

Colin Brueggemann – Oklahoma State

Brueggemann couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season as the Cowboys sit at 20-5 overall. The sophomore first baseman has made 16 appearances, has 17 hits (seven doubles), and 16 RBIs. He has a very impressive batting average of .436 and OPS of 1.147.

Colby Wallace – Cal State Fullerton

With a 5-1 start to conference play, Wallace and the Titans are showing their might early on in the Big West. So far this sophomore season, he’s played in 16 games, is batting .278 with 13 hits, and has 10 RBIs.
